Hi! I’m Monica, a Mandarin teacher from Taiwan. I help students learn Mandarin through real-life situations and everyday conversations. Instead of only memorizing vocabulary and grammar, you’ll practice useful Chinese that you can actually use in daily life, such as ordering food, shopping, asking for directions, introducing yourself, and having simple conversations. My lessons are suitable for beginners as well as learners who already know some Mandarin but want to improve their speaking, pronunciation, and confidence. I can also help you practice tones, useful sentence patterns, and reading. I have learned French and Korean myself, so I understand that learning a new language can sometimes feel challenging. I will guide you step by step and adjust the lessons according to your level, goals, and interests. I also enjoy sharing Taiwanese culture, everyday expressions, and natural Mandarin commonly used in Taiwan.

My lessons focus on practical Mandarin that you can use in real-life situations. Instead of only studying vocabulary and grammar, you will practice how to communicate in everyday situations such as ordering food, shopping, asking for directions, taking transportation, introducing yourself, and having simple conversations. For beginners, we can start with pronunciation, tones, basic sentence patterns, and useful daily expressions. If you already know some Mandarin, we can focus more on speaking, reading, pronunciation, and natural expressions. During the lesson, I use pictures, short dialogues, role-play, and practical speaking activities. A typical lesson may include a warm-up conversation, new vocabulary and sentence patterns, guided practice, speaking or reading activities, and a final role-play. Lessons are mainly 1-on-1 and can be adjusted according to your level, learning goals, and interests. My goal is to help you feel more comfortable using Mandarin in real conversations.
